Industrial induction motor assembly

3 phase asynchronous motors

3-phase asynchronous motors consist of two basic components: stator and rotor. The stator is the fixed part of the motor and includes a stator core and field windings. In the stators of 3-phase asynchronous motors, there is a separate winding for each of the three phases.

The rotor is the rotating part. Slip-ring asynchronous motors use windings in the rotor, while squirrel-cage asynchronous motors use short-circuited bars. The industrial asynchronous motor type generally used in industrial implementations is the squirrel-cage motor. LEDERMANN Industrie Werke's industrial asynchronous motor range consists of squirrel-cage asynchronous motors.

In asynchronous motors, the frequency of the rotating field created in the air gap and the rotation frequency of the rotor are not the same. The rotating field frequency depends on feed frequency and the number of poles, while rotor speed varies according to the load.

As load increases in the motor operation area, motor rotation speed decreases. The motor reaches its highest speed in idle mode and cannot exceed the rotation speed of the rotating field.

N = 120 × f / P

N: rotation speed of rotating field [rpm]
f: feed frequency [Hz]
P: number of poles of stator winding

For example, a 2-pole motor has a rotating field speed of 3000 rpm, while a 4-pole motor has a rotating field speed of 1500 rpm.

Medium/High Voltage Induction Motors

Medium/High Voltage Induction Motors (1 kV to 13.8 kV) are engineered for continuous, heavy-duty drive of critical industrial equipment, including high-capacity pumps, compressors, large fans, and mills. Utilizing Vacuum Pressure Impregnated (VPI) Class F/H insulation and rigid cast iron or fabricated steel frames, these motors deliver power outputs from 200 kW to tens of MW. They ensure maximum energy efficiency (IE3/IE4), minimal vibration, and reduced cabling losses, drastically lowering plant OPEX.

We provide fully customizable engineering solutions, offering flexible cooling configurations (IC611, IC81W, IC01) and integrated smart monitoring (PT100 RTDs, vibration sensors) for SCADA compatibility. Crucially for retrofits and system integration, shaft heights and base frame dimensions can be tailored to match existing foundations and pump alignments, eliminating the need for structural modifications.
